Let’s Rewind A Bit

I wasn’t always duly authorised by law to solemnise marriages according to law, but I’ve always had a passion for fashion and animals.

For 10+ years, I spent my time shackled to a desk buried deep in someone else’s life as a counsellor, avidly reading, or reciting When Harry Met Sally word for word. Working a 9-5 was a drag… I wanted a fun job.

Enter stage left The Heartfelt Celebrant. Rocking big, bright prints and 1 of 500+ brooches (yes it’s an issue, no I’m not seeking help), celebrating love (and having a tonne of fun while I was at it) became life. And I LOVE it.

The Moment I Knew

But things changed when I finally listened to my year 9 teacher.

“You’d make a very good Funeral Director…” she said. “You’re calm, caring, supportive… you make people feel comfortable and you genuinely care”.

Well, she wasn’t wrong. I am all those things. So off I went, entering stage left as a Funeral Director and Celebrant. I knew something needed to change.

People’s attitude to death. Because let’s be honest… Your person would probably (read: definitely) prefer to be remembered in a way that truly reflects them and their life. They’d probably (read: definitely) want their four-legged friend sitting in the front row. And sometimes, you may not have actually liked the person who’s died and that’s okay too.
