What is the difference between a Wedding Celebrant and an MC

A Celebrant and MC are the same thing, right?  Um no.  Put simply the Celebrant coordinates all aspects of the ceremony and the MC manages the reception timeline and logistics.

The celebrant is responsible for legally marrying you AND helps to create the vibe you are wanting to capture for your day.  While it is a serious commitment you are making to your person, we can still have some fun!

As a celebrant, I generally meet with couples at least twice to go over the legal requirements and then to discuss *what* you would like to include in your ceremony – this may be rituals, wording, including children or *pets*, acknowledging people who are absent or who may have died, assisting you with writing personal vows and other personal touches for your ceremony.

Legally, your Celebrant is required to register your marriage and can order your Official Certificate of Marriage.

On the other hand, a Master of Ceremonies (MC) keeps your reception running on time and smoothly.  They will make announcements such as entering as a married couple, introducing the wedding party, cake cutting, speeches, meals and when the dancing and partying gets started!

They also liaise with your vendors throughout the evening!  Usually, you would meet with them to go over the timeline for your reception and they will create a run sheet/timeline so you can get to the fun stuff!

MC’s add to the fun of your evening and continue the vibe you started at your ceremony!

For the record, I am do not offer MC services but I can recommend some really good ones… you might like to check out these MC extraordinairres!
